Eleksyon yo

More election drama in Haiti today. Article here. I'm really hoping it doesn't become a quagmire since I'm set to touch down within a few weeks of the elections. And also just always hoping for a general lack of quagmires in Haiti.

It's pretty ridiculous that Preval will be the only president ever to be democratically elected in Haiti and actually serve the full term and turn over power democratically. And the election headquarters in a seized Gold's Gym? Priceless...

We all know that Democracy comes at a price. But is Haiti really prepared to pay $38 million dollars for it?

I can guarantee this, however. On election day, you'd better believe polls will be filled with people who walked miles in the heat or rode in tap-taps over destroyed roads to stand in lines. When a country, in its 106 years of independence, holds only its fourth democratic presidential election, people won't miss it. Plus, I'm sure Haitians will want to get their $38 million worth...
