Setbacks and Patience

I received word from my scholarship recipient today that he received a lower TOEFL score than he needed and will not be able to attend the University of Portland in the fall.

It's heartbreaking for me to think about how sad and disappointed he is, but I will be taking the next few weeks to determine whether the University and the donor would allow him to re-apply after re-taking the exam.

If he's willing to work towards studying and re-taking the exam (which would be a huge expense for him to do twice), I have faith and hope that he'll not only be more prepared once he enters the University, but he'll be that much more motivated once he arrives.

Keep him in your thoughts in the next few weeks!
