We toured Port Au Prince yesterday and stopped at the cathedral and sight of the former national palace. The palace ruins have finally all been cleared away. We tried to get a good look but we're shooed away by police. Earlier, President Martelly's motorcade had passed us so we figured he was nearby.

The rubble inside the cathedral is clear too, with brick walls constructed in all the arches so I can no longer go traipsing up half-ruined staircases in the cathedral towers like we did before.

They are building a large but simpler church next door with lots of steel beams and rebar. Haiti's cathedral won't fall again.

A view of the damage from the window of the new cathedral. Life goes on.
